Heading out to the beach to test my Garmin GPS watch.

Since I got back from my trip, I have only been to the gym a couple of times to run on the treadmill. Today is my first day running outside in two weeks, being out by the beach makes me realized how much I missed it. :)

Using the Forerunner for the first time, it has so many function I am not using yet, but in the simple workout mode, I set the distance and off I go. I have a little man on my watch (virtual trainer) to complete with me, the watch will tell me whether I am falling behind or running ahead. Kind of cool.
Another mode tells me the miles, pace and time all in one screen in real time. Very cool.

When I got home, I was able to synch the running data from the watch to my computer wirelessly, the data then can be analyzed in “The Training Center” (download for free) with graph (in more details than one will ever need).

It even route your run automatically on Google map, very, very cool. I am sure I probably haven’t scratch the surface yet. I’ll have to figure out if I can get the data into this website… :)

Workout:

  • Type: Run
  • Date: 05/09/2008
  • Total Time: 00:58:00.00
  • Distance: 6.1 miles
  • Average Pace: 9:30.52/mile

I ordered the Garmin Forerunner 405 at the end of March.

It finally arrived!!! It looked bigger than I expected but much smaller than the 305. I setup user profile data on the watch, it seemed pretty easy and intuitive, I can’t wait to use it tomorrow morning for my run. I’ll report back after.

Running on treadmill this morning at the gym.

Last week was my out of town business trip, and of course, business comes first; I only did a couple of days treadmill running and weight training. Back in town this week, trying to regain what I lost for the entire week, not doing very well either…

Between work and life demands which I usually handle pretty well, this month is touch from the get-go. Working 70 hour weeks for three weeks straight with no end in sight doesn’t leave much else for “me” time. I am struggling a little. I know my workout is what keeps me sane in mind and energized in body; yet I feel like I am losing motivation to get up because I am so tired, and when I do run, I am struggling to keep going. This is like me at all…

I hope I get over this hump soon…
