Workout:
We are scheduled to run 10 miles today, from Santa Monica to Venice. The weather certainly had cooled down since last weekend. I was hopeful that I will do better than last week in the heat.
We took one minute walk break with every seven minute of running, which really helps my legs feel better. I finished strong and I am surprised that the pace was better than I expected even with a few walk breaks.
Overall, great workout today. Yeah!
Workout:
Granted for good reason, I was being smart and listening to my body, the heat was really brutal. Today’s temperture is on the cooling trend, I decided that I might as well go out there and get used to running in hot weather. I was determined that I was going to “run” the whole way this time to redeem myself. It’s not my long run day and I got to get to work at a reasonable hour.
I took different routes at vaious points than my usual routine, hence, the 6 mile goal became 7.65, but it was good overall. I slowed down but I ran the whole way with only a few walk breaks. I felt so good when I got back to my car and I looked like I just got out of the shower, I didn’t know I have that much sweat in me.
Good start for a new week.
Workout:
It’s beginning of summer, the temperature is soaring in LA, yesterday it hit 111 degree out in the Valley and 85 by the beach. We are schedule to run 9 miles today, along Temescal Canyon. I decided to run with the 10 minute pace group. I was concern about the temperature, I have been spoiled by running at 55 to 65 degree weather early in the morning (6-6:30 am). This group run later than I normally run (starting 7:15 am). The group leader assured us that we are not going to worry about speed and pace today. We just have to keep the hill run intensity going and keep hydrating ourselves. It will get HOT!!!!
I did ok considering the heat which knock the energy right out of me! The canyon is beautiful, running by myself all this time; I would have never known the route. I am really happy about that.
The last mile was just brutal, I felt like I was melting. I decided to walk the last mile with one of the girls. We chatted along, it was good. I kind of feel bad that I didn’t run the whole way, but I also know that being conscious about how I feel and listening to my body is more important.
Overall, a kick ass workout, I’d better get used to the weather, after-all, this is the beginning of the summer and it’s not going to get any cooler!
Workout:
I was going to do my normal speed interval, but running fast didn’t feel good this morning. So I switched gear to raise the treadmill to run hill and slow my pace. Overall a good workout. After the treadmill, I went over to the stair climber and did 7 minutes, finished up with AB work with medicine ball on the mat. Ahhhhh….
Workout:
I used to be addicted to the stairs, I would do minimum 15 sets (that is 182 steps up and 182 steps down) twice a week for about 5 years. Since I started running, the stairs got to be on the back burner.
At the end of the 6.25 miles this morning, I decided to do a few sets of stairs, it felt right at home.
I love it. As I was doing some stretching, I strike up a conversation with a lady that came up the stairs wearing a LA Leggers shirt. She is one of the LA Leggers original members (back when there were only 10 members), she has run 40 marathons and traveled the Greece with Jeff Galloway to run the Athens marathon way back when. She still runs 50 miles a week, she looks awesome and fit. What an inspiration, you never know who you would run into at the stairs.
Workout:
We are preparing for our annual meeting, which will go from Thursday thru Saturday. I’ll be missing my Saturday run for with the Leggers. Since I didn’t have to go in till noon today, I did a make up run of 8 miles. I started to use the GU and only taking it in small portions, it really helped. It was really windy at the beach this morning and running mostly headwind was hard. I was able to keep a good pace and feeling good thru the whole way.
Workout:
I realized that I am actually running more than required for the races we are training for at this time.
I am a little concern with over-training, after all, the goal is to stay healthy thru my races and after. So I will modify my schedule a little, to mirror the suggested workout schedule given by the Leggers.
Good run at the beach this morning, it was drizzling a little which feel sooooo good!!!
Workout:
It was a good run, they took me to some new places I’ve never been. I realized I haven’t really gone on anything longer than 6 miles in a while, I had to push myself a little. Afterwards there was a new member orientation where we get our packet. Included in the packet was Jeff Galloway’s book “Marathon!”. I guess this makes me an official member! Yeah!
Workout:
I’ve been taking the easy way out in the past couple of weeks, just going to the gym and hop on the treadmill to get my run in. After Saturday running with the LA Leggers at the beach, I was reminded once again how much I love it and it is worth the effort.
It was a good running day, I feel quick and strong, my time was faster than normal. What a great start for a Tuesday!
