Long run - 14 miles this morning.

This is the longest distence I have ever run. A journey like this, you get a little bit of everything. Elation, confidence, self-doubt, tricking your brain back to the positive zone and strength you feel after getting past your own struggle. It was hot and humid today, my left knee and my calf muscle had been bothering me for two days (hence I took Thursday and Friday off running, I only walked and iced a lot). Going into the run, I was nervous and worried about not finishing but I was also determined that I will do the best I can.

The Leggers setup water station at mid-point for all the runners, which helped tremendously, I refilled my water bottle twice (going and coming back), never thought I could drink so much water on a run. I also tried the Cliff shot block, GU in harder gello form in a cube. Easy to eat, not messy like GU, I took one cube every 30 minutes of running. I don’t think I would be able to finish and still feel good if I hadn’t drink water and take the shot blocks.

Overall, it was a successful run, I am so happy to finish. :)

Nice job! 14 miles at 10 min/mile pace … I am envious :) maybe by the end of next year I will be there. I am a total Cliff Shot Blocks fan after experimenting with a bunch of other gels etc. Yes I am going to San Francisco next weekend, driving down on Friday. I am looking forward to it!

NICE JOB! We both did our longest runs ever on the same day & both started out with a struggle. When I started out my run I got almost to my first mile and that muscle in the front opposite your calf started tightening up..like drawing my toes up & I started walking. I was so mad, but I started running again after half a block & it was all golden from there. WTG LULU! ;-)

Cool! That’s more than a Half!
How much water do you usually drink on a normal day? I recommend half your bodyweight number of (in) ounces.
I have really tight calves now and the back of my left knee hurt after just 6 miles Tuesday. Tiger Balm on it has really helped. I’ll try a run on it to see in the AM. My LSD Sunday will be 13M. We’re pretty close…
I haven’t tried those shot blocks yet. I use gels.
I have a hydration packpack and drink a little every 10 min or so. Really helped when it was killer hot!
    Keep it up!
