Leggers run this morning. I am not happy with the overall setup.
The Leggers is doing two marathon training with stacked schedule. Since May we are training for the Pasadena Marathon for November, they have now just added new members that want to do LA Marathon in March 09. The Pasadena group (my group) is well into our training but have to hold back as far as starting time (starting much later to accommodate for the LA people with short milage) and route (for example, they are doing a fraction of our milage but we have to run our route back to the starting place to drop them off. It’s such a hassle!
In addition, the number of the people in the group had grown at least 4 times for each pace group; multiply that to the number of people running the same route at difference pace with different starting time, we eventually catch up with each other and have to pass different group in the already crowed Venice Beach Board Walk. It was humid, dusty, crowed and just down right unpleasant.
I know it sound like just excuses, but my momentum completely went to “la-la land”, and I finished just short of my scheduled 8 miles. Shame….
Next Saturday is our scheduled long run of 18 miles, I hope it will go better then today. ugh…
Workout:
- Type: Run
- Date: 08/16/2008
- Time: 07:55:00
- Total Time: 1:13:00.00
- Distance: 7.41 miles
- Average Pace: 9:51.13/mile
This does sound like a really lame setup.
It’s too bad they have done this. Have you commented to the leaders that this format doesn’t make that much sense?
Yeah, there must be plenty of poeple who complained because the following Saturday (which was the 18 mile run that I just did) we started 1 hour and 10 minutes ealier than previously posted time. That factor along helped tremendously (less people showed up) and it was much cooler.
All good now.
