We drove up on Sunday from Los Angeles to Los Gatos (a small town near San Jose, Northern California) to visit my family for a week. As soon as we arrived Sunday afternoon, we had a big welcome committee with cousins from San Francisco, In-Laws from San Mateo, and of course my sister and her family.
A big eating fest and lots of wine Sunday afternoon into the evening, I felt like a total pig.
Today is the day to settle down a bit, we walk around the town of Los Gatos; it’s next to Cupertino, total Silicon Valley affluence. Within the 4 square of mile of town, there are a Bentley, Ferrari, and a Lamborghini dealer. This is insane…the kind of money people have here!!!
My sister directed me to a seventeen mile trail along the highway to run. So I took a stab at it this afternoon. It was HOT!!!! The trial was nice and flat, a little creepy, I must say, don’t get me wrong, I run by questionable characters by my usual beach route all the time. But I never felt unsafe, becaue I am out in wide open space with people around. This trial is pretty enclosed with all the trees, rocks along both sides. Everytime I pass by a non-exercise person, I felt a little unease as if they could just push me into the bushes and no one will ever see what happens. I went on the trail and got lost and ran out of road so I only did 4 miles. Running back to my sister’s house was another ½ mile of straight hills. By the time I got into the house, I was dripping sweat, and everyone was grossed out! Hahaha!
Great workout! I do plan to take it easy this week on my vacation so we’ll see how I do this week.
