Speed walk with my mom.

My mom came to visit this weekend, since she moved away two years ago, we have not seen each very much.  We had a great time this weekend, she walks for an hour everyday, so early in the morning, we got dressed and walked around the neighborhood for an hour.

It was nice bonding time to spend together, I didn’t realized how much I miss her until she’s here.

My mom didn’t drive, so we spent many hours walking together when I was a kid. When I got my driver’s license, she was sad, because we wouldn’t walk together any more. I felt so bad, I made a point of walking places with her. She died about a year later. I’m so glad I took those walks! Now I go for walks with my son. It’s a great opportunity to talk without the distractions of cell phones, other family members, etc. He loves it now, but as a kid, he thought I was torturing him when I wanted to go for a walk!

Have a wonderful visit with your mother!

It’s funny how we don’t appreciate time spent with our parents until much, much later in life. My daughter whines and complains when I ask her to take a walk with me. But I understand, I didn’t want to spend time with my parents when I was 14…

Being able to walk together is a blessing, sometimes we just don’t know it. :)
