Canyon hill run to Will Roger State Park - Inspiration Point.

People in my running group are still exchanging emails for fun runs even though the official training season is over. Our pace leader is doing the Big Sur Marathon (rolling hills, high elevation, a difficult marathon) in April and he needs hill mileage; so he solicited for running buddies to go with him to Inspiration Point.

Inspiration point is voted one of the best view, you can see downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Santa Monica, Marina Del Ray and miles and miles of endless beach from Inspiration Point way up high, complete unobstructed view.
I have never done this run before and decided to take up the challenge. It’s been a very difficult week at work and not because of the long hours. I very much needed a HARD run just to push everything out and move on with some clarities.

The route consists of 6 miles of hills that doesn’t really let up until you get to the top. The weather is PERFECT, slightly cool at around 55 degree, the sky is clear and blue, I couldn’t ask for a better backdrop of today’s run. The hills are difficult, we ran slow and easy, I actually felt pretty good the whole way. But I was also glad there were 4 of us doing this together; I don’t think I would have accomplished this run by my lonesome…

Once we got to the top, we stopped for a bit and took in the gorgeous view. I wish I had a camera but I certainly will never forget the mental pictures I took and will forever keep them in my memory bank. I felt like the week’s headaches, issues, stress all melted away and disappeared, I am so happy I did it!

Coming down the hills was a lot of fun, as we gain speed (and I was flying), I really had to focus on the road as it was uneven and I don’t want to get injured. Coming down the hills was effortless, as we arrived back at our starting point; I was so elated I was singing with my music! :)

WOW! I had to work today after the run, but NOTHING is going to get me down! INSPIRATIONAL RUN!

Wii Fit and Wii Sports - playing game as workout.

We just purchased Nintendo Wii Console for our family, it comes with Wii Sports games which includes: Tennis, Golf, Boxing, and Bowling.  We also have the Wii Fit game which has 50 different exercises you can do on a balancing board.  My daughter and I competed against each other on all the Wii sports games.  Then took term to do the Wii Fit exercises which includes cardio, balancing games, yoga, and strength training.  We worked up a sweat and had a great time and we did it together.  And of course, when we finished we went out and treated ourselves delicious branch.   Good times!!!

Just because I am working 12 hour days this week, doesn’t mean my workout will suffer.  The only thing that suffers is my sleep, for some reason, as tired as I was, I woke up at 5:15am and couldn’t go back to sleep.  The heck with it, might as well get my run in for the day.  Good run!

By the beach from Santa Monica to Venice, very good run.

Had to go to work after the run, not happy about it, but after the run, I feel like anything I do today is gravy. 

Already celebrated Valentines Day with my husband last night to avoid to crowd.

This is going to be a relaxing weekend.  :)

Night run by work.

I head out from the office for a night run, I haven’t run at night in a while. The air is so nice and crisp, the weather is cool. About 1/2 of the route is rolling hills, I attached the hills like it’s no body’s business. :) The downhill was a lot of run, even though I know it’s hard on my hamstrings, but I enjoyed it. :)

After a very tough week (I am working 60 hour week, so it’s not quite over yet)… I needed this run badly.

I decided to make up for it today on my own.  I head out the Santa Monica, instead of running the usual route that our club do the training on; I went back to the old routes I used to do on my own.  It’s been a while, and the last time I ran this route I was at the start of my marathon training.  Months later, not realizing how much stronger I have become, I did this route with ease and only after I finished I realize that I used to struggle at the end (which happened to be a 1/2mile uphill in the canyon) and could never run thru the entire route (mostly I ended up walking the last leg).   What a difference the training has made for me. Now the challenge is to hang on to the fitness I have gain and not let it go and that is going to take some discipline.

It was beautiful out there, after three days of rain, the sky has been washed so clean with gorgeous powder blue, the ocean is calm and I was just so happy to be out there taking it all in.

Resistance training class.

The instructor is HARD CORE!!! We used resistance band, hand weights, jump rope, medicine ball. None stop, heart pumping, moving from one excercise to the next. We even move to the boxing studio and got on our knees to kick the boxing bag while on all three. I sweat like a pig (or is it dog?) Good alternative workout from the Saturday runs I usually do.

Treadmill run - avoid the rain.

Couldn’d sleep, so I went to the gym right when they open the door at 5 am. Pluged in to the news on my treadmill, watching CNN reporting the worse job loss since 74. After a while I had to turn off the TV screen and turn to my ipod for some musical relief.  I thought about how lucky I am to have a fulfilling career and a balanced life.

It’s funny how at the start of the run, my mind is kind of jumbled and at the end, thoughts seem to shake out into clear forms and ideas.  I love my run.
