Recovery Run 9 miles - Saturday meet
I met up with my group this morning for a recovery run; we are scheduled for 9 miles. I shared my war story as we ran. This is the first “real” run after Sunday’s marathon. I feel good and kept up a good pace for the entire time.
After the run, our club has a end of season celebration at the Senior Center, they provided coffee, fresh fruits and bagels. There were posters on the walls representing all the races for the past year and we were to go and sign our names on the posters. People showed up wearing their medals and get recognized. I signed my name on the Surf City Marathon poster, the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon poster and the Pasadena 1/2 Marathon poster. The room was filled with runners sharing war stories having a jolly good time. I was happy to chat with all my friends there.
One of the organizers from the LA marathon also came to speak with us. He has started a partition to try to get the race to move back to March instead of the May. In a day and 1/2, he always has 4000 signatures, he plans to show the city council the partitions and ask them to move the race day for 2010. He really likes out club and also want to train with us for the next LA marathon.
This was a perfect ending for the one-year training season.
